KB vs KiB: why is my 1 TB drive only 931 GB?
Drive makers use decimal units, where 1 KB = 1,000 bytes and 1 TB = 10¹² bytes. Some operating systems count in binary, where 1 KiB = 1,024 bytes, but still label it “GB”. 10¹² bytes is about 931 GiB, so nothing is missing. This converter shows both.
Temperature formulas
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32, and K = °C + 273.15. Water freezes at 0 °C (32 °F) and boils at 100 °C (212 °F). −40 is the same in Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Asian units
A ping (Taiwan) or tsubo (Japan) is 400/121 ≈ 3.3058 m², still used for flats and shops. A Taiwanese catty (jin) is 600 g and a tael (liang) is 37.5 g; the shaku is 10/33 m ≈ 30.3 cm. US cups and gallons differ from UK ones, so check which your recipe uses.
