How a cron expression works
A cron expression has five fields separated by spaces: minute (0–59), hour (0–23), day of month (1–31), month (1–12) and day of week (0–7, where 0 and 7 both mean Sunday). Some schedulers, such as Quartz and Spring, add a seconds field in front for six in total. For example, 30 9 * * 1-5 means 09:30 every weekday.
Special characters
*any value,a list, e.g.1,15-a range, e.g.9-17/a step, e.g.*/10for every 10- Names such as
JANorMON, and shortcuts such as@dailyor@hourly
Good to know
When both day of month and day of week are set, standard cron runs on days that match either one, so 0 0 1 * 1 runs on the 1st and on every Monday. Servers often run cron in UTC; tick Show times in UTC to compare. On daylight saving days, times that don’t exist are skipped and a fixed time that repeats is listed once, like classic cron, while schedules with * in the hour keep running through the repeated hour. Other schedulers may differ, so check yours.
