How to test your webcam

Press Start and allow camera access. If you have several cameras (for example a laptop camera and a USB webcam, or front and back cameras on a phone), pick one from the list. Choose 720p, 1080p or 4K to ask the camera for that quality; the panel shows what it actually delivers, so you can confirm whether your webcam really supports Full HD.

Why is my FPS low?

Most webcams lower their frame rate in dim light to collect more light per frame, so 30 FPS can drop to 15 or less. Turn on a lamp facing you and the FPS usually recovers. USB 2.0 hubs, long cables and other apps using the camera can also limit resolution and FPS.

Camera not found or blocked?

Check the camera privacy settings in Windows (Settings › Privacy › Camera) or macOS (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera), close apps like Zoom, Teams or OBS, and make sure a physical privacy shutter is open. The picture and snapshots never leave your device.
