How Japanese names work
Japanese names are written family name first: in “神崎 結衣 (Kanzaki Yui)”, Kanzaki is the family name and Yui is the given name. Each name is written in kanji, and the reading is shown in hiragana (furigana) because the same kanji can be read in different ways. Parents choose kanji for their meanings, which is why anime names often hint at a character's personality — a cold rival might be called 氷室 (Himuro, “ice chamber”), and a gentle heroine 陽菜 (Hina, “sunlit greens”).
What do the vibes mean?
Cute names use flowers, sweets, spring and sunshine. Cool names use wind, ice, speed and sharp sounds. Noble names borrow from old aristocratic families, gems and court culture. Dark names use night, shadows, crows and the moon. Unisex names appear for both genders.
Isekai fantasy names
Characters reborn in another world often get European-style names and a class or title, such as “Saintess” or “Demon Lord”. The fantasy style combines a given name, a family name and a title, with the katakana spelling used in Japanese light novels. All names are suggestions for stories, games, OCs and TRPG characters; double-check that a name isn't already a famous character if that matters to you.
