How to make an ID photo at home
Stand in front of a plain, light wall and have someone take a photo of you facing straight at the camera, at eye level, with your shoulders in the frame. Open it here, choose the size you need, then drag and zoom until the top of your head and your chin sit between the dashed guide lines. Use Straighten if the photo is slightly tilted.
Printing the sheet
The print sheet is a 4×6 inch (102×152 mm) image at 300 DPI, filled with as many copies as fit, plus thin cut lines. Order it as a normal 4×6 photo print at a photo lab, a convenience store printer or an online print service, or print it at home on photo paper. Choose the L size paper for Japanese convenience-store photo printing. Make sure printing is set to actual size so the photos keep the correct millimeter size.
Common sizes
- 35×45 mm: passports in Taiwan, Japan, the UK and the Schengen area, and Taiwan ID cards (often called 2-inch).
- 2×2 in (51×51 mm): US passports and visas, and India.
- 28×35 mm: the Taiwan 1-inch photo for licenses and forms.
- 30×40 mm: Japanese résumés (rirekisho).
- 33×48 mm: China visas.
