How to play Mahjong solitaire
The tiles are stacked in layers. A tile is free when nothing lies on top of it and its left or right side is open. Tap two free tiles with the same face to remove them. The four flowers (plum, orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum) match each other, and so do the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter). Clear every tile to win. Blocked tiles are shaded slightly so you can see your options at a glance, and the counter shows how many pairs are open right now.
Layouts, hints and shuffles
Turtle is the classic 144-tile layout with five layers; Pyramid (80 tiles) and Bridge (48 tiles) are quicker games. Every deal is built backwards from an empty table, so it always has a solution. Hint shows a pair you can take, undo takes back as many moves as you like, and Shuffle rearranges the remaining tiles into a new layout that can still be cleared. Your best time is saved for each layout, and the leaderboard records Turtle clears.
Tips
Free the long rows from both ends and work on the tall middle stack early — tiles buried under several layers are the hardest to reach. When three or four copies of a face are free, think about which pair to take: removing the ones that unlock other tiles keeps more choices open. If you do get stuck, a few undos usually reveal a better path.
