Which direction should I pick?
- Simplified → Traditional (Taiwan, with phrases) changes the characters and also the vocabulary, so 软件 becomes 軟體, 鼠标 becomes 滑鼠 and 信息 becomes 資訊. Choose this for text that should read naturally in Taiwan.
- Simplified → Traditional (Taiwan) changes characters only and uses the Taiwan standard character forms, keeping the original wording.
- Simplified → Traditional uses the OpenCC standard Traditional forms, a neutral choice when the text is not aimed at one region.
- The three → Simplified options go the other way. The Taiwan phrases option turns 軟體 back into 软件.
How accurate is it?
The converter uses OpenCC, an open-source dictionary that matches whole phrases before single characters. One Simplified character can map to several Traditional ones (发 → 發 or 髮, 干 → 乾, 幹 or 干), and phrase matching picks the right one in most everyday text: 头发 → 頭髮, 发现 → 發現. Names, slang and very new terms are worth a quick read-through after converting.
Tips
⇄ Swap moves the result into the input box and flips the direction, which is handy for checking a round trip. The dictionary (about 1 MB for Simplified → Traditional) downloads once when you first convert and is then cached by your browser.
Is my text private?
Yes. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type here is sent to any server.
